How to go from the airport to the center of Paris

Paris has 3 airports near the city: Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Beauvais. Most low-cost flights, such as Ryanair flights, land at Beauvais Airport or at the
Orly Airport, like those of the Vueling airline. While in Charles de Gaulle, the most important airport in the city, large companies such as Air France operate.
The best ways to go from the airport to the center of Paris or your hotel are:

  • Bus: The 3 airports have a direct bus transfer to the center of Paris. In Beauvais, the bus costs less than 20 euros and takes about 75 minutes. In Orly you have urban buses for 2 euros or the Orlybus that leaves you directly in the center in approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic, for less than 8 euros. While in Charles de Gaulle, the Roissybus takes an hour and costs about 11 euros, although from this location there is also the possibility of going to the city center in cheaper urban buses.
  • Train: It is a little cheaper than the bus, although not as comfortable, but it can be a good option at the airports of Orly and Charles de Gaulle. RER trains in Orly take about half an hour and cost about 7 euros. In Charles de Gaulle they cost about 10 euros and take half an hour. The bus and train leaves you at stations that are well connected by subway to the city center or near your hotel, depending on the location.
  • Cab: Taxi prices in Paris depend on the distance from the airport to the center or to the hotel. For example, from Charles de Gaulle to the center you can pay about 60 euros, from Beauvais about 150 euros and from Orly about 80 euros.
  • Private transport: With a price a little cheaper than the taxi, this is the most comfortable option since with this service a driver will wait for you at the airport with a sign with your name and take you directly to the hotel. Being a closed price, cheaper than the taxi, you will avoid unpleasant surprises. You can book it here for trips from the 3 airports to the center of Paris or to your hotel.

To find more detailed information about the transfer you can check this post on how to go from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris, how to go from Beauvais Airport to Paris or how to go from Orly Airport to Paris.

Accommodation in Paris

In our first trip to Paris we stayed at the Etoile Pereire, located 10 minutes walk from the Arc de Triomphe and with a metro station nearby. The hotel is very good value for money, plus free wifi, good breakfast and very friendly staff.
On our last trip we were at the Hotel de Nell 15 minutes walk from the Louvre Museum. Its price is more expensive than the first hotel, although the value for money is also very good.

And how could it be otherwise, before leaving you can take an original photo of the Eiffel Tower between buildings from the rue de l'Université.

Eiffel Tower

The guide of what to see in Paris in one day Continue along the Seine River until you cross the Pont de l'Alma, near is the tunnel of the Soul Bridge where Diana, Princess of Wales died. Walking along Marceau Avenue from the Soul Bridge or taking the subway you will arrive at the famous Arc de Triomphe, one of the most essential places to visit in Paris, built by Napoleon to commemorate his victory in the battle of Austerlitz that with its 50 meters of Height allows you to enjoy great views of Paris and the Champs Elysees. Paris Arc de Triomphe

In the Arc de Triomphe, the two kilometers of the most famous avenue in Paris, the Champs Elysees, begin or end, where walking along this street seeing some of the most luxurious shops in the world, is one of the best things to do in Paris . Before reaching the bottom of the Champs Elysees, you can deviate a bit to see some imposing buildings such as the Petit Palais, the Grand Palais, the Discovery Palace or the beautiful Alexandre III Bridge. The avenue ends at the Place de la Concorde, where historical figures such as Marie Antoinette or Louis XVI were guillotined during the French Revolution and where you can now see a huge obelisk of Egypt over 3,000 years old and a giant ferris wheel With good views.

Concordia Square

And as we can not forget the gastronomy, if you want to try French food, near the Plaza Concorde you have the restaurant Le souffle, with a delicious French souffle or l'Ardoise, a typical French bistro, where we are sure, you will enjoy gastronomy like never before. Something to keep in mind is that the water in Paris is good, so you can always ask "garraf d'eau"and thus save a good amount of euros in drinks.
After lunch you can stroll among the sculptures, ponds and trees of the Tuileries Garden and sit in some of its sought-after benches, to enjoy a quiet time in one of the most beautiful places in the city. Crossing the garden you will reach the Louvre Museum, which is located in the beautiful Louvre Palace, where you can see its famous glass pyramid in the middle of the square, which serves as an entrance to the museum. When traveling Paris in one day, it is better to leave the museum visit for the next visit or when you have more time.

The Louvre

Near the Louvre you have the Cité Island, although before accessing this small island, we recommend you see it from the beautiful Pont des Arts and enter the Pont Neuf, the oldest in the city.
Surrounded by the River Seine, the Cité Island is the old center of the city of Paris, where several important buildings such as the Conciergerie, the famous Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sainte Chapelle are located. If you have little time, we would choose to visit the Sainte Chapelle, one of the most beautiful churches we have seen in the world, where its huge stained glass windows stand out. You can see the Cathedral of Notre Dame from the outside, although there are always long lines, especially to climb one of the towers where you can see its incredible and well-known gargoyles and from where you can enjoy one of the best views of Paris . If you have more time, a good option to know the history of the two churches and not miss any details is to book this visit with an expert guide in Spanish. If you do not want to do any guided tour you can book this ticket without queues in advance.

Sainte Chapelle, one of the best places to see in Paris in one day

After the visit to the Sainte Chapelle, you can cross the Saint-Michel bridge to leave the island towards the legendary Latin Quarter. Before starting to wander around this busy neighborhood, we recommend entering the beautiful Shakespeare And Company bookstore, an icon of this area of the city.
The Latin Quarter stands out for its narrow streets full of restaurants with bright signs and terraces for dinner or a drink and although we consider that it is not the best area for dinner, being very touristy, if you want to stay in the area and enjoy its atmosphere , most of its restaurants offer cheap menus, although of lower quality compared to other areas of the city. On our last visit to the Latin Quarter we moved away a bit from the most famous streets to eat in the restaurant Sourirem, in which we paid 42 euros for 5 of their delicious tapas plus glass of wine and water (garafe d'eau) That the truth, we knew glory.

Latin Quarter

A romantic option to finish the Paris in one day It is to book the boat trip on the Seine with gourmet dinner with which you can see places such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral and the illuminated Eiffel Tower, while enjoying a good dinner. This walk is considered one of the best tours in Paris, so it can be an unforgettable moment in the city.
And if you don't want to do the tour, a good way to say goodbye to Paris is to take a long walk along the banks of the Seine, which can go from the Notre Dame Cathedral to the Eiffel Tower and enjoy the night and lighting of one of the The most beautiful cities in the world.
